Design and Development of Novel Robotic Devices

What we do

We are innovating new robotic devices, like the RED++ soft robot, that enhance the capabilities of endoscopic surgeries. Our focus is on developing flexible, soft robotics systems that can navigate complex anatomical structures, providing surgeons with greater control and flexibility during minimally invasive procedures. These devices combine novel control systems for sliding, rotation, and bending, allowing for advanced manipulation during surgical tasks.

Why it is important?

The development of novel robotic devices is crucial to expanding the range of surgical procedures that can be performed minimally invasively. Soft robotics, in particular, provide a safe and effective way to interact with delicate tissues without causing damage. By enhancing the tools available to surgeons, we enable more precise and less invasive operations, reducing patient recovery times and improving procedural outcomes.

How can it benefit patients?

Patients will benefit from minimally invasive procedures that cause less trauma, leading to quicker recoveries and fewer complications. The increased precision offered by novel robotic devices will also reduce the risks associated with complex surgeries, improving patient safety and long-term health outcomes. These innovations will make advanced surgical interventions more accessible and less physically taxing on patients.
